OpenAI-Sam Altman saga: Here’s what we know so far. * OpenAI co-founder Sam Altman is leaving the company. * Altman will remain on the board of directors. * OpenAI CEO Ilya Sutskever will take over as CEO. * The move comes as OpenAI faces increasing competition from Google and DeepMind.

OpenAI co-founder and former CEO Sam Altman was ousted after a review found that he was “not consistently candid in his communications with the board.”

The board of directors announced that chief technology officer Mira Murati would be interim CEO, effective immediately.

However, Emmett Shear, the former CEO of Twitch, revealed early Monday morning that he was taking over as interim chief of the AI company.

Microsoft Chairman and CEO Satya Nadella announced late Sunday night that Altman and Brockman would join Microsoft to lead a new advanced AI research team.

More than 700 employees at OpenAI are threatening to quit and follow the former CEO to Microsoft, unless the board reinstates Altman and Brockman.

Microsoft on Tuesday appeared to be prepared to offer jobs to those employees who want to follow Altman to the company.
