A Picasso painting sold for a record $139 million, making it the most valuable artwork auctioned this year.
Pablo Picasso’s painting “Femme à la montre” sold for more than $139 million at a Sotheby’s New York auction, making it the most valuable work of art sold globally at an auction this year.
The painting is a portrait of Picasso’s lover Marie-Thérèse Walter and was painted in 1932.
It was sold as part of an estimated $400 million sale of the collection of late philanthropist Emily Fisher Landau.
